During hot periods and rainy seasons, a thick layer of dust, dirt, and grease accumulates on ceiling fans due to constant operation. Many consider cleaning the fan a difficult and tiring task because when wiping the blades, all the dry dust falls directly onto the floor, bed, or face, which only worsens the cleaning problem.
However, there is a simple and clever method that allows you to solve this problem in minutes using an old pillowcase. Thanks to this simple trick, all the dust collects inside the case, and not a single particle falls onto the floor.
To perform this procedure, you will need: an old cotton pillowcase, a chair or ladder, a household cleaning spray (a solution of vinegar and dish soap), and a dry microfiber cloth.
Before starting, be sure to completely turn off the main switch or regulator of the fan. To avoid dust getting on your face, it is recommended to wear a mask and safety glasses. Then take the old cotton pillowcase. Climbing onto a chair or ladder, completely place one fan blade inside the case as if putting a case over a pillow.
Gently press on the blade through the case with both hands and slowly pull the case out. This way, all the accumulated thick dust from the top and bottom sides of the blade detaches and settles directly inside the case, without falling onto the floor or bed. This process should be repeated for all other fan blades.
If the fan blades have stubborn black residue from oil or moisture, prepare a solution: mix 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, and half a teaspoon of dish soap in a spray bottle. Lightly spray this solution on the blades or wipe them with a cloth soaked in the solution. Finally, wipe the fan with a dry cloth so that it shines like new. After that, take out the pillowcase, shake it, and wash it.
