The government of Uttar Pradesh intends to utilize technology to enhance transparency and accelerate the implementation of social assistance programs. As part of this initiative, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) is planned to be expanded across key programs managed by the Department of Social Welfare, such as scholarships, elderly pensions, and the National Family Benefit Scheme.
The AI-based system will be used to verify documents and monitor payments, ranging from pensions to scholarships. The goal of this step is to eliminate instances of fraud and human error, ensuring timely delivery of aid to those who need it.
The AI technology will be applied to analyze the identification and documents of applicants in the elderly pension scheme and the National Family Benefit Scheme. This will significantly speed up the verification process and immediately detect false claims. In the area of scholarships, AI will analyze all data, from application submission to fund transfer. If any inconsistencies or discrepancies are found, the system will automatically send an alert, allowing corrective measures to be taken in time.
The main objective of this digital control is to eliminate delays associated with paperwork and guarantee the timely transfer of funds to the accounts of needy citizens.
In addition to monitoring programs, the state government is focusing on integrating students from low-income and rural segments into future technologies. This is being achieved through Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya schools. These schools are equipped with modern classrooms, digital content, 3D videos, and AI-based language learning laboratories.
As part of the 'Adobe Education India' initiative, teachers and students in these schools are trained in creating digital stories, digital creativity, and AI-based content. Following the Sarvodaya schools, the government's next priority is to provide technical skills training related to their curricula and AI tools to students residing in government hostels.
According to the Minister of Social Welfare (with independent mandate), Asim Arun, the government's primary goal is to deliver program benefits to the most vulnerable citizens without intermediaries or delays. The use of AI will not only increase the department's efficiency but also prepare hostel students for new employment opportunities.
