DYU raises $15 million in Pre-Series B round to expand AI-based mobility

Shenzhen electric bicycle manufacturer Dayu Zhixing Technology, known as DYU, has successfully completed a Pre-Series B funding round, raising approximately 100 million yuan, equivalent to about 15 million US dollars. This capital was attracted with the participation of Tongxin Capital and several institutional investors.

The funds raised will be directed towards strengthening the company's intelligent technologies, developing its global brand, and scaling up supply chains. While the broader European e-bike ecosystem faces constant inventory adjustments, DYU is avoiding the margin pressure seen in mid-to-high-end brands (€2,000 – €5,000) that are engaging in aggressive price reductions.

Founder and CEO Li Wei noted that the company is focusing on the mass market in the price range of €500 to €2,000. This segment allows them to leverage the advantages of the Chinese supply chain and low costs, as demand remains stable despite economic difficulties.

DYU, founded ten years ago, is transforming its operations from traditional folding e-bikes to a full intelligent mobility platform. The product range now includes light off-road electric motorcycles, fat tire bikes, and household equipment, such as the recently released $1,200 electric wagon designed for camping and outdoor recreation in Europe and the United States.

Regional strategies account for differences in consumer habits: the European market is heavily focused on strict traffic regulations, whereas the more liberal US market favors outdoor recreation. The recreational vehicle segment in the US now accounts for about 20% of total revenue, demonstrating annual growth above 25% over the past two years. Amid market consolidation and the exit of weaker competitors, DYU views AI-based mobility features and economical equipment as the main driver of its next phase of growth.
