Significant fluctuations were observed in the prices of gold and silver on the multi-commodity exchange on Thursday. In futures trading, the price of silver decreased immediately after the market opened, losing about 1500 rupees. At the same time, the price of gold increased and traded at approximately 1.53 lakh rupees per 10 grams.
Change in Silver Price
Examining the change in the futures price of silver on the multi-commodity exchange, it should be noted that the silver price with an expiration date of December 4 closed the previous trading day at 2,44,213 rupees per kilogram. On Thursday, at the opening of futures trading, the price fell to 2,42,726 rupees, which represents a decrease of 1487 rupees per 1 kg of silver.
Following the sharp drop in the silver price, the MCX Silver Price fell even lower than its historical high. Previously, in the last week of January 2026, silver reached a historical level for the first time at 4 lakh rupees per kilogram, rising to the mark of 4,20,048 rupees. However, after reaching this level, the metal began to fall rapidly. Compared to the current price, the futures price for 1 kilogram of silver has decreased by 1,77,322 rupees from its peak.
Cost of 10 Grams of Gold
Against the backdrop of falling silver prices, the cost of this precious yellow metal demonstrated growth. On MCX, the price of gold with an expiration date of October 5 rose by approximately 200 rupees per 10 grams, reaching 1,53,963 rupees. Nevertheless, at the beginning of trading on the commodity market, the price also slightly corrected downwards.
Gold Dynamics in September
Analyzing the changes in the gold price during September shows that it became cheaper. On the last day of August, August 31, when futures trading on Amex concluded, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold was 1,54,460 rupees. Compared to the price on Thursday, gold increased by approximately 500 rupees.
Current Prices in the Domestic Market
Looking at the prices of gold and silver in the domestic market after futures trading on MCX, according to data updated on the Indian Bullion Jewelers Association (IBJA.Com) website, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold is 1,53,486 rupees, and the price of 1 kg of silver is 2,35,249 rupees. It should be noted that when purchasing jewelry in the domestic market, customers must pay a manufacturing markup in addition to the applicable GST, which increases the final cost.
