A sharp discussion erupted between model Riya Ahir and former Communist Party of India (Marxist) representative Shehzad Punawala regarding Riya's non-selection for the Big Boss 20 show. The conflict began after Riya referred to Punawala as 'uncle.'
The focus was on the situation where public voting determined one of the participants in the Big Boss Season 20. Riya Ahir competed for a spot with Punjabi actress Lev Gill, but Lev Gill won, and Riya was eliminated from the show even before filming began.
Shehzad Punawala used a video format to speak out against Riya. He claimed that her protest photo or video material was part of a pre-planned 'script' promoted by figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Raj Thackeray, Supriya Sule, and Dimple Yadav.
According to Punawala, there is a significant difference between spreading 'scripted' photos and gaining support from personalities like Rahul Gandhi and Raj Thackeray, and also between that and winning public opinion or getting into the Big Boss house. Punawala labeled Riya as a representative of the 'left-wing ecosystem' and a 'YouTube anti-moditator,' noting that her exclusion from Big Boss is a 'great disgrace' for those who call her the face of Generation Z.
He contrasted her with Lev Gill, emphasizing that Lev visits Iguard temples, cares for cows, respects the Indian army, and does not use abusive language. In response to Punawala's criticism, Riya called him 'uncle.'
Punawala responded to Riya's video, expressing regret that Big Boss treated her that way and hoping she would forget about it. He stated that Riya's level of intelligence is equal to Rahul Gandhi's. He also noted that the video she created was not directed against her herself and advised her not to take it so seriously. Punawala added that Riya had asked him for collaboration on Instagram, and that the whole world witnessed Riya's humiliation at the hands of Lev Gill.
He suggested Riya join Akhilesh Yadav or the SP party, as well as Rahul Gandhi. Punawala concluded that if Rahul Gandhi cannot win elections, how can he secure her place in public opinion through Big Boss? Furthermore, he commented on age, stating that Riya, being 28 years old, is not a 'young girl' unlike him, who is 38, which technically is not half as young. He also joked that Riya mistook him for '56-year-old Rahul Gandhi.'
