American scientists shared information about the successful application of an experimental treatment method in a boy suffering from metastatic liver cancer that was resistant to standard chemotherapy. The therapy utilized lymphocytes modified with chimeric antigen receptors that additionally express interleukin-15 and interleukin-21.
According to observation results, one year after starting the treatment course, all signs of the disease completely disappeared in the patient. Details of this clinical case were officially published in the scientific journal The New England Journal of Medicine.
