Apple announced the release of iOS 27, scheduled for next Monday, the 14th. This new iteration of the operating system for iPhone will bring visual modifications, performance optimizations, and significant additions to artificial intelligence (AI) features, including a more sophisticated version of Siri.
iOS 27 will be compatible with the same devices currently running iOS 26. This covers models released from the iPhone 11 and the second-generation iPhone SE, totaling 30 eligible models for the update.
Furthermore, future iPhone 18 series models will also be included in the compatibility list once they are launched on the market.
Although the update reaches older devices, it is important to note that the most advanced features of Apple Intelligence will not be accessible on all devices. Full AI functionality requires the iPhone 15 Pro or subsequent models. Consequently, devices such as the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 may receive iOS 27, but with restricted access to AI innovations.
One of the central points of the new version is the enhanced Siri with AI capabilities. The assistant now has greater ability to interpret the context of requests, access personal data, and perform tasks within applications. Apple is also implementing AI features in native apps such as Photos, Safari, Messages, and Shortcuts.
iOS 27 also refines the Liquid Glass interface, introduced in the previous system generation, by adding a specific control to modulate the transparency level of interface components. The system also incorporates AI-based image editing tools, improvements to native software, and new parental control mechanisms.
In terms of performance, there are notable improvements, especially in older models. Apple guarantees that app opening will be up to 30% faster and that file transfers via AirDrop will be up to 80% more efficient.
Currently, iOS 27 is available in its beta version for developers and public testing program participants. However, the final version will be made available to all compatible devices on September 14th. Users testing the beta version can continue to receive test updates before the general release, while others must wait for the official rollout to install the stable version. Installation can be done directly through the iPhone itself by accessing the software update section in the device's settings.
