The Indian government presented the modern research vessel ORV Sagar Manthan on Wednesday at the Rishi Bankim shipyard in Kolkata. This launch aims to strengthen India's potential in oceanographic science and marine technology, contributing to self-sufficiency in this field.
The ORV Sagar Manthan was built as part of the Deep Ocean Mission and cost approximately 840 crore rupees. Its commissioning will significantly expand India's capabilities in conducting oceanic research.
