Bunedkor Stadium in Uzbekistan, which has been without electricity since September 4th, has accumulated a significant debt for consumed electricity exceeding two billion soms. The Professional Football League of Uzbekistan has appealed for financial support for the sports facility, noting that any amount, even one thousand soms, would help resolve the issues.
According to information from ProSport.uz, the stadium's financial difficulties are complex. In addition to the debt to the electricity supplier, there are outstanding debts to tax authorities, utility services, and staff.
The debt burden has also negatively affected the condition of the football pitch. Although the turf was restored in 2025 after concerts, the stadium is now facing a debt to the contractor who laid the new surface, again jeopardizing the quality of the grass.
The power outage has also disrupted the operational activities of the PFL. It was previously reported that the league's office, located at the stadium, switched to remote work, and the servers were completely powered down. This led to a decrease in the quality of Super League and Pro League television and internet broadcasts, forcing the PFL to use external servers for signal transmission.
Furthermore, Bunedkor faces financial claims from foreign footballers. FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on the club due to unpaid debts to Brazilian player Rivaldo and Japanese footballer Itsuki Urata.
In light of the situation, the PFL has called on both organizations and private individuals to support the stadium, suggesting they transfer any manageable amount. The League particularly emphasized that even a transfer of one thousand soms can help.
