The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan announced the nomination of Yasurbek Jaysunov as a candidate for the Athletes Commission of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Jaysunov is a member of the national team of Uzbekistan in WT Taekwondo and won a medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2022.
The Olympic Council of Asia published the list of candidates for the upcoming commission elections. Jaysunov represents the Central Asian region.
In addition to the Uzbek athlete, Kazakh climber Amir Maimuratov, who participated in the Paris Olympics in 2024, and Iranian Taekwondo champion of 2024, Aryan Salimi, have also entered the race for a spot on the commission.
The voting is scheduled from September 20 to October 2, 2026, during the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Only athletes participating in the Asian Games have the right to vote.
