Uzbekistan is considering the possibility of introducing chemical products and technological solutions from the German company BASF into its mining and metallurgical industries. A working meeting with representatives of BASF Central Asia took place at the Agency for Industrial Cooperation and Public Procurement.
The main focus of the negotiations was on the production of flotation reagents, special chemicals, and auxiliary materials used in the mining and metallurgical sectors at local enterprises.
Participants discussed the potential use of local raw materials and existing production capacities, as well as the possibility of technology transfer. Various production models are being considered, such as direct investment, joint venture creation, contract manufacturing, and contract processing models.
Furthermore, during the meetings, the potential for exporting goods produced in Uzbekistan to the markets of other Central Asian countries was discussed. After the meeting, the Agency plans to send BASF presentations of projects covering 20 types of import-substituting products recommended for development in Uzbekistan.
BASF intends to review these proposals together with its regional and global divisions. Projects that align with BASF's areas of activity will be determined after evaluation. Separate technical negotiations are expected for further elaboration of these projects based on initiatives that interest the company.
