The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially unveiled the squad for India A ahead of the upcoming home series against Australia A. The series is scheduled to feature two multi-day matches and three One Day Internationals (ODIs).
A notable aspect of this series is that the leadership across the two formats will be handled by different players. Devdutt Padikkal has been appointed as the captain for the multi-day team, while Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the ODI squad. Sai Sudarshan will serve as the vice-captain for the multi-day team, and Devdutt Padikkal will take on the role of vice-captain for the ODI team.
All five matches during Australia A's tour of India will take place in Puducherry. The series will commence with two multi-day fixtures. The first match is planned from September 22 to 25, and the second from September 29 to October 2. Following these two matches, there will be three ODI games.
The dates for the ODI matches have been set: the first ODI will be on October 6, the second on October 9, and the third on October 11. All scheduled encounters will be held in Puducherry.
The India A squad for the multi-day matches includes Devdutt Padikkal, who has been named captain. His deputy is Sai Sudarshan. Among the players included are Aman Mokhade, Ayush Pandey, Devdutt Padikkal, Sai Sudarshan, Yash Rathore, Sheikh Rashid, Kumar Kushagra, and Shams Mulani. Additionally, Tanush Kotian, Tushar Deshpande, Anshul Kamboj, Praful Hingne, N. Jagdishan, Nachiket Bhute, and Vaishak Vijay Kumar have joined the team.
The India A Multi Day squad includes: Aman Mokhade, Ayush Pandey, Devdutt Padikkal (captain), Sai Sudarshan (vice-captain), Yash Rathore, Sheikh Rashid, Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper), Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Tushar Deshpande, Anshul Kamboj, Praful Hingne, N. Jagdishan (wicketkeeper), Nachiket Bhute, and Vaishak Vijay Kumar.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the captain for the ODI team. Devdutt Padikkal will act as the vice-captain in this format. Sai Sudarshan is also included in the ODI squad. In addition to Ruturaj and Padikkal, the ODI squad features Rajat Patidar, Kumar Kushagra, Nishant Sindhu, Vipraj Nigam, Arshin Kulkarni, Arshad Khan, Naman Dir, and Hardik Pandya. Kumar Kushagra and Prabsimaran Singh have been selected as wicketkeepers. Gurjapnit Singh and Yash Thakur have also joined the team.
The India A ODI squad includes: Priyansh Arya, Sai Sudarshan, Devdutt Padikkal (vice-captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain), Rajat Patidar, Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper), Nishant Sindhu, Vipraj Nigam, Arshin Kulkarni, Arshad Khan, Naman Dir, Hardik Pandya*, Prabsimaran Singh (wicketkeeper), Gurjapnit Singh, and Yash Thakur.
BCCI also highlighted two players when announcing the squad. The selection of Vaishak Vijay Kumar for the multi-day team and Hardik Pandya for the ODI team is conditional upon receiving Fitness Clearance. This means the availability of both athletes depends on their medical clearances. Next to the names of these two players in the BCCI list, there is an asterisk.
The first multi-day match will take place from September 22 to September 25, 2026. The second multi-day match is scheduled for September 29 to October 2, 2026. The first ODI will be on October 6, 2026, the second ODI on October 9, 2026, and the third ODI on October 11, 2026.
