The Melkbosstrand Arts Festival will take place at the end of this month, culminating in the Melkbos Ateljee Open Studios event, which will gather over 30 artists in 14 different locations.
A resident and artist of Melkbosstrand plans to participate in the fifth annual Melkbos Ateljee Open Studios event, which will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and also on Sunday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Janet du Preez expressed hope that through art and culture they can further bring the community closer, unite people, and make Melkbosstrand an even more beautiful place to live.
This coastal town is preparing to come alive with colors, conversations, and creativity, as the long-awaited event has expanded into a full week of cultural festivities. What started as an intimate local gallery walk has evolved into the first Melkbosstrand Arts Festival.
The week-long program offers entertainment for everyone, including independent film screenings, poetry readings at 'Poetry Corner' in Blessings Coffee and Creative, practical art workshops, and informative demonstrations by local creatives.
An additional event will be a musical performance: Karen Zoid will perform live with the Melkbosstrand High School choir on the evenings of Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, at the Melkbosstrand NG Kerk church.
Visitors are advised to pick up an Open Studios map at the main art center, Atlantic Beach Hotel on Commaille Road. The presence of over 30 artists showcasing their work in 14 locations allows guests to explore diverse media—from Marie du Tuit's high-end quilting to Eben Beeku's hyperrealistic charcoal works.
