Genetic researchers analyzed the DNA of insects found on the hair of a mummified human. These remains were discovered in an Iranian salt mine and date back approximately 1500 years.
During the analysis, fragments of louse egg DNA were studied. The results showed that these insects belong to clade A. This clade is currently found both in Iran and in several other countries.
The findings were presented to the scientific community in an article published in the journal Insects.
