Charter flight brought 27 Uzbek citizens from Sweden and Poland to Tashkent

A charter flight arrived in Tashkent carrying 27 Uzbek citizens who were deported from Sweden and Poland for violating the migration legislation of these countries.

The organization of the citizens' return was carried out through the joint efforts of competent structures of Uzbekistan, Sweden, and Poland. Upon arrival at Tashkent International Airport, the deportees were met by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant departments.

The returning citizens expressed gratitude to employees of the respective agencies for the assistance provided in their return home. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Uzbekistan fulfills its international obligations by continuing to defend the rights and legitimate interests of its citizens abroad.

Furthermore, work is underway to raise the level of legal awareness among citizens intending to travel abroad, with the aim of preventing such violations of migration rules. It should be noted that previously, 18 Uzbek citizens deported from the USA for non-compliance with migration requirements had been returned to Tashkent.

In the first half of 2026, there was a noticeable decrease in the number of citizens of Uzbekistan who decided to move abroad permanently. Most of these people headed to Kazakhstan and Russia.

According to data from the National Committee on Statistics, over 5.4 thousand citizens left Uzbekistan for other countries for permanent residence between January and June 2026. This figure was 129 people, or 2.3%, lower than in the same period of 2025.

Main Migration Destinations

Kazakhstan remains the main destination for resettlement, accepting 83% of all those who moved there permanently. Russia came in second place, receiving 14.1% of migrants. A significantly smaller percentage of Uzbeks chose the Republic of Korea (0.8%) and Kyrgyzstan (0.6%), while the remaining 1.5% were distributed among other countries.

Migration by Region

Among the regions, Karakalpakstan saw the largest number of departures—1.9 thousand people. This was followed by Tashkent region with 1.4 thousand, and Navoi region, from which 1.2 thousand residents left.

From Tashkent city alone, 492 people moved abroad for permanent residence. The figures in other regions were substantially lower: 79 people left Khorezm region, 59 from Bukhara, 50 from Jizzakh, 48 from Samarkand, 39 from Syrdarya, 37 from Namangan, 28 from Fergana, 27 from Andijan, 21 from Kashkadarya, and 9 from Surkhandarya.

It was previously reported that 2.9 thousand Uzbeks moved to Kazakhstan in the first half of 2026. This represents a decrease of 49.2% compared to the previous year and is the lowest figure for the first half in the last five years.

Uzbekistan Consulate Helped Homeless Citizen Return from Yekaterinburg to Tashkent

The General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Yekaterinburg assisted a compatriot who was homeless, ensuring his return to his homeland. The man had been spending some nights on the streets.

According to IA "Dunyo," a local resident contacted the diplomatic mission, reporting the need for assistance for a native of Navoi region. Diplomatic staff identified the man, contacted his relatives, and organized his transport. As a result, he was able to safely reach Tashkent by air from Yekaterinburg.

Furthermore, previously, the General Consul of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk, Aslam Akбаров, visited a compatriot who was undergoing treatment in the neurosurgery department of the Kuzbass Clinical Center for Miners' Health in Leninsk-Kuznetsky. This woman sustained severe injuries as a result of a fall from a height, including damage to four vertebrae, ribs, foot, and knee.
