US changes scope of additional tariffs on Canadian products

US President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Tuesday stating that an additional ad valorem tariff of 50% will be imposed on certain Canadian goods, while the existing 50% tariff on other goods will be canceled. This change was made with the aim of 'compensating for the burden or deficit for US trade and better serving the public interest.'

The new tariffs will take effect on September 15. According to the text of the proclamation, a wide range of Canadian products, including mattresses, motorboats, and golf carts, will be subject to this additional levy.
