A 22-year-old student preparing for entrance exams in Jaipur died by suicide. Before this, he posted a message on social media apologizing to his parents, stating that he could not meet their expectations.
After this post, the student's cousin, Chand, repeatedly tried to contact him by phone but received no answer. Several hours later, when people went to his room, they discovered his body hanging by a rope.
The incident occurred at the Garvit hotel in Hatipura, Vaishali Nagar, on Sunday. The deceased student was identified as Rakesh, a resident of Narayana area in rural Jaipur. He was staying in a PG (Paying Guest) accommodation in Jaipur while preparing for competitive exams.
According to SHO Vaishali Nagar Mahesh Tiwari, Rakesh had rented a room at the hotel. Hotel staff reported that he told them his friends would be visiting him and also mentioned the need to pay one thousand rupees upon departure.
Police stated that shortly after Rakesh entered the hotel, he posted on social media apologizing to his parents for failing to live up to their hopes. As soon as the post appeared, Chand called Rakesh, but he did not answer and later switched off his mobile phone.
When Rakesh's phone remained unreachable for a long time, Chand, along with several acquaintances, went to the hotel. With the help of hotel staff, they reached his room, but no one answered when they knocked. After breaking down the door, Rakesh's body was found hanging by a rope.
Police reported that Rakesh arrived at the hotel with a rope in his bag and used it for suicide. The body was sent to Kavantiya Hospital for a forensic examination. On Monday, after the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family.
