The government has announced good news for Mumbai residents traveling home for Ganeshotsav. Residents of Mumbai heading from Mumbai to Konkan will not have to pay road tolls on the Goa and Pune-Bengaluru highways.
This decision was made so that Ganeshbhakts can reach their homes as quickly as possible without facing financial difficulties and avoiding traffic jams at toll collection points. From September 11 to 27, Ganeshbhakts traveling to their villages or returning after celebrating Ganeshotsav will be able to use the roads free of charge.
Previously, a trip from Mumbai to Sindhudurg required payment of over 650 rupees, and the journey from Mumbai to Kolapur cost about 700 rupees.
Free travel will be available on the following routes: Mumbai-Goa (NH 66), Mumbai-Bengaluru (NH 48), and Atal Setu (the route directly from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai). Additionally, this concession applies to roads maintained by MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation).
If you are traveling to your village for Ganeshotsav, it is mandatory to install a special pass on the vehicle. This pass must be named 'Ganeshotsav 2026 Konkan Darshan' and must include the vehicle number and driver's name. Such a pass can be obtained at any nearby police station or RTO office free of charge.
Furthermore, MSRTC buses traveling to Konkan and Kolapur will be completely free during this period. They will also need to install a 'Ganeshotsav Darshan' pass, which is organized by MSRTC itself.
