Vara Kumar appointed CEO of Whatfix

Whatfix, a developer of software for digital adoption, appointed co-founder Vara Kumar to the position of Chief Executive Officer on Tuesday.

Kumar takes over leadership following the passing of co-founder Hadim Batty on September 1, 2026. Batty had held the position of CEO since the company's founding in 2014.

Since the company's co-founding, Kumar has led the product engineering and research roadmaps of the organization. In her expanded role as CEO, she is now responsible for global corporate operations and technology strategy.

In a corporate announcement, Kumar stated: 'Over the past twelve years, we have built Whatfix based on a shared conviction that technology should empower people, not hinder them.' She added: 'As I step into the role of CEO, our senior leadership team and I remain deeply committed to realizing this vision, supporting our global customers and partners, and building a business founded on strong fundamental principles.'

Company representatives reported that the senior leadership team and board of directors will ensure the continuity of business operations across all regions.

Whatfix, headquartered in Bengaluru and San Jose, develops an enterprise platform. This platform is designed to assist employees in software workflows through contextual, automated process, and usage analytics step-by-step instructions. The system uses a core technology called ScreenSense to interpret user intent and identify operational bottlenecks in desktop and web applications.

According to the company, Whatfix serves over 600 organizations worldwide. Among its corporate clients are more than 80 companies from the Fortune 500 list, such as Shell, Schneider Electric, Mercedes-Benz, Heineken, and UPS Supply Chain Solutions. The company has offices in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Australia.

The company has currently attracted capital investments from Warburg Pincus, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Dragoneer Investment Group, Peak XV Partners, Eight Roads Ventures, and Cisco Investments. In the most recent private financing transaction in 2024, Warburg Pincus led a $125 million investment round in Whatfix.
