Orlando Pirates star Oswin Apolles linked with possible move to French club

International player for the Bafana Bafana national team, Oswin Apolles, may soon leave Orlando Pirates, who have started attracting attention from foreign clubs. Reports suggest that an unnamed French club is interested in him.

Although the Ligue 1 transfer window closed on September 1st, any potential new club can only register the player in January. Nevertheless, Apolles could still be signed and play the first half of the season either with Pirates, another club, or spend the entire season on loan at a location preferred by his current club.

Apolles's start to the season at Pirates has been mixed. In five league matches, he scored two goals and provided two assists, totaling nine goals in all tournaments, but his play has not always been at the highest level.

Previously, he demonstrated a brilliant first half of the season with Buccaneers. He helped the team win a domestic treble, including the Betway Premiership, MTN8, and Carling Knockout. He continued these successes with the national team, contributing to Bafana Bafana's qualification for the FIFA World Cup, where the team reached the 32nd round.

Due to his brilliant form, Apolles was nominated for the PSL Footballer of the Season award but lost the award to teammate Relebokhile Mofokeng. Mofokeng moved to Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, which plays in the Jupiler Pro League.

Mofokeng is one of several high-profile players who have left Pirates in recent months, alongside Patrick Masvangani, Deano van Rooyen, and Sifo Mbule. If reports about Apolles's possible transfer prove true, it might explain the club's decision to sign Mohau Nkoto on a seasonal loan from Al Ettifaq.
