It is reported that Yash was initially offered a fee of around 100 crore rupees for playing the role of Ravana in both parts of 'Ramayana'. However, changes to the deal conditions have since become known. According to reports, Yash will not receive a fixed payment as an actor. Instead, he will retain the rights to theatrical distribution of the film in South India for both parts of 'Ramayana'. Thus, Yash's income will directly depend on the film's earnings in the southern market. In case of a successful run in South India, he could gain substantial benefits.
Evidently, Yash's move is viewed in the context of the box office success of his recent film 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups'. Nevertheless, the report clearly states that the change in the 'Ramayana' deal is unrelated to the income from the film. The film 'Toxic' showed a strong start in India, collecting approximately 101.10 crore rupees in net profit on its opening day. However, its box office collections significantly decreased afterward, reaching a net collection of about 229.60 crore rupees by the end of the first week in India.
The stake Yash has taken in 'Ramayana' potentially could yield him more than the fixed 100 crore rupees, provided the film achieves massive success in the southern market. Yash is involved in the project not only as Ravana; through his production company Monster Mind Creations, he is also associated with the project as a co-producer. Therefore, retaining the rights to theatrical distribution in the south is considered a major business move for him. If the film becomes a hit in markets such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala, his earnings could be very large. On the other hand, if the film does not meet expectations, the risk falls on Yash. There is already huge excitement surrounding Nitish Tiwari's film 'Ramayana'. Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Rama, and Sai Pallavi will play Mata Sita. Yash will play Ravana, and Sani Deol will play Hanuman. The film will be released in two parts. The first part of 'Ramayana' is scheduled for a global release on November 6, 2026, with its Indian release set for November 8. The second part of the film will appear in theaters during Diwali 2027.
