Kalle Lappinen, a resident of Finland, discovered the largest hoard of silver in the country's history, dating back to the Viking age, on September 3, 2026. Using a metal detector, he found two birch bark containers in southern Finland.
These containers held several thousand coins, as well as various artifacts, including a silver bracelet and a bead. The total weight of all the found items amounts to 4.5 kilograms. Information about this find was published on the official website of the Lahden Museums.
