Activity surrounding the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Jio Platforms, the telecommunications and digital division of Reliance Industries, has significantly increased. The company has overcome an important stage on its path to the IPO and has begun preparations for contact with potential investors.
According to a Bloomberg report, meetings may be organized in locations such as America, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, and the Middle East to launch investor solicitation for Jio Platforms' IPO.
Jio Platforms submitted draft documents to SEBI for an IPO on June 19, 2026, and these documents received approval on August 28. The proposed offering involves issuing up to 270 million new shares, which will account for about 2.9% dilution of the company's equity capital. If the IPO plan is followed, Jio Platforms could take place in November, and this is considered one of the most anticipated IPOs in India.
According to Bloomberg, the Jio Platforms team may hold meetings with potential investors in the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, and the Middle East. The purpose of these meetings is to provide global investors with information about the company's growth, its business, and the potential offering before the IPO.
Nevertheless, the overall picture of the IPO is not yet clear. According to the report, negotiations between the company and its consultants are ongoing, and the size of the offering, valuation, and timeline may change. Therefore, it cannot yet be stated at what size and valuation the IPO will take place.
Parallel to the preparations for Jio's IPO, attention is also focused on the shares of the parent company, Reliance Industries Limited. Another Bloomberg report indicates that Reliance plans to raise up to INR 12,500 crore through local currency bonds early next week. The base size of the bond issuance will be INR 10,000 crore, with an additional INR 2,500 crore potentially raised through a green shoe option.
These notes will mature over five years, with a coupon rate of approximately 7.47%. Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and Yes Bank have been named as arrangers for this issuance. According to data collected by Bloomberg, this will be Reliance Industries' first such offering since November 2023.
Regarding Jio Platforms' IPO, the greatest attention is currently focused on three aspects: the offering size, the company's valuation, and the listing timeline. Although SEBI has granted approval, the final decision on these three points still needs to be made. The news of starting meetings with global investors is seen as the next important step in the IPO process.
These meetings may give the company insight into investor interest and potential valuation. Jio Platforms' IPO will be a major event for Reliance Industries, as it could pave the way for unlocking the value of its digital and telecommunications business. Consequently, the market will be watching both Jio's IPO preparations and Reliance's fundraising moves in the coming days.
