However, after three games, the author became less confident in these assumptions. It is clear that Arsenal and Manchester City won all their three matches. Although neither team played flawlessly, they already look like favorites that others will have to chase.
Arsenal's victory over Chelsea on Sunday was particularly significant. After conceding less than a minute in, the team managed to recover and win the major London derby, which indicates significantly greater resilience compared to previous attempts to win the title.
Meanwhile, City continues its process of massive rebuilding but remains undefeated and decisive enough to accumulate maximum points, without always pushing the game to its limit.
Liverpool is harder to assess. A draw with Newcastle, a two-goal deficit against Nottingham Forest, and then a confident victory over Ipswich leave Ancelotti's team unbeaten, but still demonstrating a search for the optimal balance.
Manchester United earned four points in three games, which is not a disaster, especially considering Michael Carrick led them to third place last season. Nevertheless, there are enough worrying signs suggesting that this project could become difficult. The 5-2 victory over Ipswich showed United's attacking potential, but conceding twice to Everton and the subsequent equalizer in the 96th minute reminded everyone that defensive problems have not magically disappeared.
Carrick may point to an improvement in attack, and it is obvious, but United still concedes too many goals and makes matches unnecessarily complicated. The next few weeks will show whether this is real progress or just another false dawn.
