The VII International Traditional Textile Festival named 'Atlas Bayram' (also known as 'Atlas Festival') is scheduled to take place in the city of Margilan. The events aimed at developing professional competencies will be held from September 12 to 16, while the main part of the program is planned for September 17 to 19.
The festival brings together masters, designers, textile industry specialists, researchers, and cultural representatives from various countries. Since its founding in 2015, it has served as a platform for preserving, promoting, and transmitting the traditions of textile crafts, as well as integrating this heritage into modern creative industries.
This year's program includes a series of exhibitions, practical sessions, shows, and business meetings. These events will take place in several locations: the 'Vodi Gavhari' tourist complex ('Pearl of the Valley'), the Margilan Crafts Development Center, and the Margilan History Museum.
'Atlas Bayram' Program
The opening ceremony is scheduled for September 17 and will take place at 'Vodi Gavhari'. On this day, a fashion show will also be held as part of the Mentorship Program on Innovative Design. Participants will demonstrate the results of a joint project implemented with the support of UNESCO and the European Union, which focuses on developing skills that combine traditional methods and modern design.
A conference dedicated to the topic 'Traditional Textiles as an Important Segment of the Creative Industry' will be held from September 17 to 18. From September 17 to 19, participants can attend master classes in carpet weaving and traditional textiles, as well as a craft fair. Folk festivities featuring tightrope walkers, circus artists, and oral satire masters known as askiyas are also planned.
Business meetings in B2B and G2B formats are provided for September 18, aiming to establish dialogue and partnerships in the field of silk and textile production. Additionally, an International Fashion Show will take place, where designers will present their collections inspired by cultural heritage.
The festival will conclude on September 19. The Margilan History Museum will host an International Exhibition titled 'Language of Textiles: Dialogue of Traditions' and a photo exhibition 'Uzbek Crafts: Living Tradition'. The closing ceremony and awards for all participants will also take place on this day.
