The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Paul Chan, stated in his blog on Sunday that Hong Kong aims to promote market expansion and reduce operating costs for businesses from partner countries of the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby unlocking regional growth potential.
In connection with the XI Belt and Road Summit being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 9 to 10, Chan noted that a new 'Go Global' session will be presented at this summit to support Chinese enterprises from mainland China in their overseas expansion.
Furthermore, the event will focus on areas such as energy, artificial intelligence, low-altitude economy, and urban development. Chan added that field trips are also planned to facilitate experience exchange and cooperation.
Chan reported that over one hundred companies from Belt and Road partner countries are registered in the city, with a total market capitalization exceeding HKD 340 billion (approximately USD 43.4 billion). Some infrastructure firms from Central Asian states are also considering debuting on the local stock exchange.
Paul Chan also pledged that Hong Kong will continue to leverage its unique advantages under the 'One Country, Two Systems' policy and take concrete steps to promote building a community with a shared future for mankind.
