GIFT Nifty predicts opening decline; Asian markets show mixed dynamics amid US-Iran tensions

According to data for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the GIFT Nifty indicator suggested that the Nifty50 index might open lower. Asian markets opened with mixed dynamics.

Investors were assessing oil price prospects and central bank actions against the backdrop of escalating tensions between the US and Iran, leading GIFT Nifty futures to be valued at 23,796 points, down by 75 points. A mixed picture was observed in Asian trading sessions: growth in technology stocks supported the market, but ongoing tensions between the US and Iran negatively affected investor sentiment.

Specifically, the Japanese Nikkei 225 and the Korean Kospi rose by 0.35% and 1.74%, respectively. Meanwhile, the Hang Seng index fell by 0.82%. US financial markets were closed on Monday.

In the oil market, prices declined on Tuesday morning after Tehran announced an imminent agreement on joint management of the Strait of Hormuz with Oman. Investors are now awaiting a reaction from the US. The September Brent crude contract was valued at $97.06 per barrel, which is 0.25% lower.

Futures for gold and silver rose by 0.2% and 0.17%, respectively.

Asian Markets Show Mixed Dynamics

Asian markets traded with uncertain sentiment, as gains in the technology sector provided support, while continued tension between the US and Iran weighed on risk appetite. Japan's Nikkei 225 and South Korea's Kospi increased by 0.35% and 1.74%, respectively. Meanwhile, the Hang Seng index dropped by 0.82%.

US Stock Futures Decline

On Tuesday morning, US stock futures traded lower as investors analyzed oil price volatility amid renewed tensions between the US and Iran. Dow Jones and S&P 500 futures fell by 0.6% and 0.06%, respectively.

The main exchanges announced that initial public offerings (IPOs) for Kanohar Electricals, Prasol Chemicals, and Glass Wall Systems will begin accepting applications on Tuesday. The IPOs for Pranav Constructions and Apana Logistics will enter the second day of subscription, attracting 351.03 crore rupees and 34.14 crore rupees, respectively. The Qualiance International IPO enters the third day of subscription.
