The government has reduced the minimum interval for reserving liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply replenishment in rural areas from 45 to 25 days. This change was made following improvements in LPG supplies and a significant reduction in the backlog of replenishments.
According to Atul Mathur, the reservation interval in rural areas is now the same as for urban consumers.
The State Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, had previously imposed this restriction due to pressure on LPG supplies amid the conflict in the Middle East. At that time, the interval was 25 days for city residents and 45 days for rural residents.
However, considering the current improvement in LPG supply situation and the substantial reduction in accumulated replenishment arrears, the Center has eased this restriction. Now, all domestic LPG consumers, regardless of whether they live in a city or a rural area, can reserve replenishment every 25 days.
The Ministry of Petroleum issued an order to oil marketing companies IOC, BPCL, and HPCL, requiring them to immediately implement this change.
