Sharjah is expanding and modernizing its educational infrastructure through a portfolio of school and kindergarten construction projects valued at AED 500 million across the emirate. These projects involve creating new facilities, expanding existing ones, and carrying out renovations aimed at ensuring modern and safe learning environments.
These initiatives are being implemented by the Sharjah Department of Public Works in collaboration with the Sharjah Private Education Authority. The projects cover schools, kindergartens, and early childhood development centers, as well as academic, sports, and residential spaces.
The cooperation between these two bodies is intended to ensure that the new educational institutions meet the licensing, safety, operational, and technical standards of the Authority, while supporting the development of private education and early childhood services within the emirate.
In Sharjah city itself, the Department completed the Mehzab School project on a 30,000 square meter plot, designed for 400 students. The construction of this school took 60 days and includes academic, medical, cultural, and sports zones.
The school's administrative building covers 981 square meters and is equipped with seven offices and a meeting hall, as well as a medical department with a clinic and isolation room. The early childhood building accommodates 150 children and features six classrooms, a library, a multi-functional area, and staff and medical service rooms.
The building for students from grades one to four is designed for 250 people and includes 10 classrooms, a library, a multi-functional area, staff rooms, a medical office, and other amenities. The campus is also equipped with a 117-seat theater that can be used as a multipurpose hall, as well as science and computer laboratories, a cafeteria, and other auxiliary facilities.
The Department has also completed expansions of early childhood centers in Al Suwaiq and Al Rahmania. Al Ruqaybah 1 facility received four additional classrooms covering 770 square meters, increasing capacity by 96 children. Shagrafa 1 Center in Al Rahmania received six classrooms spanning 1,000 square meters, designed for 150 children.
Renovation works were also carried out at Al Kulaiya Kindergarten, which included laying vinyl flooring over 1,500 square meters, installing 23 doors, 700 square meters of suspended ceilings, and 250 square meters of tile flooring. The project also involved installing 15 parking canopies, interior and exterior painting, as well as air conditioning and electrical work.
Construction is currently underway on four public kindergartens, one of which is designated for the Sharjah Translation Service in Al Abbar, along with facilities in Al Muwarrak, Ksheisha, and Al Noaf.
The Department finished the renovation of the Pakistani Islamic School in Al Ghubayba, covering approximately 8,000 square meters. The work included facade painting, repairing cracks in concrete elements, waterproofing, updating toilets and suspended ceilings, repairing floors, doors, windows, and metal cabinets, as well as improving outdoor play areas, basketball courts, fencing, and gates.
In Al Tumaimah and Al Daid, the International Victoria School construction has reached a 73% completion rate. This project encompasses administrative and theater buildings, a multipurpose sports hall, facilities for kindergarten and nursery, and academic blocks.
Work on the courtyard paving and maintenance of Al Bustan Kindergarten has reached 84%; the project includes canopy installation and comprehensive building maintenance.
In Al Madam, the Department is constructing Tuwaila Kindergarten and has completed the first phase of expansion at Khalifa Al Hamza American School. This completed phase includes an addition on the first floor covering 145 square meters for boys, containing a classroom, playroom, and observation room, as well as an addition of 365 square meters for girls with four classrooms, a laboratory, and an observation room.
A main dining hall measuring 340 square meters is currently under construction, which will include a kitchen, food service area, and seating for 80 students. A separate preschool dining hall measuring 250 square meters, designed for 50 children, is also being built.
New classrooms were handed over at the beginning of the academic year, while the dining areas and remaining buildings are planned for completion by November.
Phase two of the Victoria School construction in Kalba has been completed, adding a laboratory and academic building, a theater, separate libraries for boys and girls, and a sports complex with a multipurpose hall and a semi-Olympic pool.
The Department has also finished constructing medium-level facilities at Sidra Private School, including two enclosed sports halls for boys and girls, classrooms, physics, chemistry, biology, and IT laboratories, prayer rooms, clinics, staff rooms, and other amenities.
In Kalba, the construction of Al Ghail Kindergarten has also been completed, featuring classrooms for infants up to four years old, indoor and outdoor play areas, multipurpose halls, reception areas, kitchens, and auxiliary rooms.
The construction of Hur Kalba Kindergarten is 40% complete. This facility will include classrooms for infants up to four years old, indoor and outdoor play areas, multipurpose halls, reception areas, kitchens, and auxiliary rooms.
The construction of Al Luluaiya Kindergarten in Hor Fakkan is complete, comprising 10 classrooms accommodating 200 children, as well as administrative offices, a central kitchen, and indoor and outdoor play areas.
