A third-grader from School No. 151 in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent was taken to intensive care after his mother reported that two other students forced him to swallow a metallic magnetic bracelet.
According to the Ombudsman for Children's Affairs and Law Enforcement, an investigation into the circumstances of this incident is underway.
The boy's mother stated that the incident occurred near the school toilet. Two students approached her son, but she could not identify them. She claims they threatened him and, despite his resistance, forced him to put the metal bracelet in his mouth and swallow it.
The boy initially did not tell his parents about what happened due to fear of other students. He was taken to the hospital after feeling severe pain. During an X-ray examination, doctors discovered the metallic object, after which the boy told them about the events that took place at school.
According to his mother, the bracelet broke into several pieces inside the boy's body and began to oxidize. Doctors performed emergency surgery lasting three hours. The foreign body damaged the intestine in six places, requiring the removal of about five centimeters of the damaged section.
After the operation, the boy was transferred to intensive care. His mother reported that doctors expect him to remain there for another four to five days. Meanwhile, the Department of Preschool and School Education of Tashkent stated that the child's condition is satisfactory and he is receiving necessary medical care.
The boy's mother shared details of the incident on social media by publishing a video appeal. She called on parents to pay attention to the problem of violence among children and issues related to their upbringing. She also expressed shock at what happened and that she almost lost her child.
The Ombudsman for Children's Affairs confirmed the incident. Representatives of his office visited the school and are examining the circumstances on site. The situation is under special control.
The investigation is examining, among other things, whether adequate measures were taken to ensure student safety and whether the child's rights may have been violated. The Ombudsman for Children's Affairs stated that he will monitor the case until all circumstances are clarified and necessary measures are taken.
The district police department is conducting a preliminary investigation into this case. Additional information will be provided after the investigation is complete.
