According to data from the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, during the period from January to August 2026, Uzbekistan imported passenger cars worth 1.103 billion US dollars. This figure shows a growth of 72.6% compared to the same period last year, when the import volume was 639.2 million US dollars.
Electric vehicles accounted for the largest share among imported passenger cars. The cost of their import increased by 71.5%, reaching 614.4 million US dollars from the previous 358.3 million US dollars. At the same time, the number of imported electric vehicles grew by 89.6%, increasing from 28,920 to 54,826 units.
The import of gasoline internal combustion engine vehicles showed a cost increase of 6.1%, rising from 232.7 million US dollars to 246.9 million US dollars. The number of such vehicles also increased by 17.1%, totaling 13,070 units compared to 11,163 previously.
The most significant relative increase was recorded in the import of hybrid vehicles running on gasoline and electricity. Their cost grew 5.2 times, reaching 240.0 million US dollars from 46.1 million US dollars. The number of hybrids increased 5.5 times, from 2,023 to 11,130 units.
Conversely, the import of diesel vehicles decreased. The cost of their import fell by 29.1%, dropping from 2.1 million US dollars to 1.5 million US dollars, and the number of imported diesel cars decreased by 78.0%, amounting to only 20 units instead of 91.
