The Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) is gearing up for its 15th anniversary this month. The event aims to celebrate local design brands and emerging talents who have shaped Durban's fashion landscape over the past fifteen years.
The celebration will take place from September 16 to 18 at the Durban Exhibition Centre. The theme for the anniversary event is 'Where Legacy Lives,' and it will feature the work of 84 designers across three evenings. Participants will include both established names and new designers from the DFF mentorship program.
A special highlight will be the showcase of the DFF Class of 2026, comprising 20 aspiring designers who have spent a year developing their skills and brands through participation in the program.
The first evening will set the tone for the show, featuring designers such as Dineo Khumalo, Karnation Clothing, Republic Menswear, Carita Adams, Black Faces Apparel, By Arthur The Tailor, and Vialli Jeans. The second evening will focus on a blend of experienced and new talent, including Dave & Gray, Leanne Mondon, Libo Creation, Precious Lulu, Jado Mjadu, and House of St Luke, as well as the DFF Class of 2026.
The final day of the three-day celebration will conclude with shows by designers such as King A Apparel, Karen Monk, Martin Bespoke, Sibu Msimang, Indoni Fashion House, Zamaswazi, and DUKE Clothe Your Soul.
Beyond the runway, this anniversary reflects the significant growth of the local fashion industry. Over the years, DFF has provided designers with opportunities to develop their brands, find new audiences, and gain valuable recognition in an industry where young talents often struggle to find a platform.
The event is part of the eThekwini municipality's broader efforts to develop the city's creative economy, particularly in textiles and apparel. For fashion enthusiasts, the three-day event offers a chance to see the latest developments from Durban and support designers at various stages of their careers.
Tickets are priced at 120 Rand per show, 250 Rand for a day pass, and 500 Rand for a three-day pass. Tickets can be purchased through Webtickets, as well as at partner stores like Pick n Pay and Boxer. In light of reaching its 15th anniversary, the latest edition of DFF is positioned not merely as another fashion fair, but as a celebration of creative voices continuing to propel Durban onto the global fashion stage.
