The humanoid robot, valued at 200 thousand reais, has joined the security team of the Rock in Rio festival. G1Plug moves around Cidade do Rock, performing a function that draws attention: assisting in monitoring areas where the presence of specialists could pose a risk.
This humanoid was developed by Pluginbot for operation in remote, hard-to-reach, or critical locations. According to the company, this is the first instance of such a robot being used at a festival in Brazil.
The robot weighs 35 kilograms and has a construction combining metal, aluminum, rubber, and other components, participating in the festival's security operations. It is equipped with cameras and sensors that transmit real-time images to the Command and Control Center (CCO).
According to information from the security company hired by Rock in Rio, this technology was previously used during the festival in Lisbon in June. Pluginbot emphasizes that this is the first time a humanoid robot has been used at a Brazilian festival.
Sergio Ricardo, Commercial Director of Pluginbot, explains that 'the humanoid robot is equipped with built-in cameras to conduct autonomous surveillance, providing real-time information to the Rock in Rio Command and Control Center (CCO). '
The main goal of implementing the robot is to reduce staff exposure to risky situations. The robot is capable of operating in zones deemed critical, conducting preliminary analysis before personnel entry.
Ricardo also notes: 'When thinking about critical environments, the company seeks ways to implement this type of equipment in areas where the risk to humans is higher. The robot is intended to assist teams by conducting preliminary analysis before human action.'
G1Plug possesses motorized joints from its feet to its shoulders, allowing it to perform a wide range of movements. In more advanced models, the platform's fingers can also move independently.
In addition to monitoring assistance, the humanoid attracted the attention of visitors. Its futuristic appearance sparked numerous photos, videos, and curious glances on the first night of the festival. The robot itself generates significant interest and is very 'Instagrammable', attracting much public attention.
Thus, G1Plug has found its place in Cidade do Rock, combining an auxiliary function for security services with the interest it sparks among the public.
