Recipe for Crispy Bhindi Bhujia Served with Hot Dal and Rice

If you like okra (bhindi) but are tired of preparing it in the traditional way, you can try making crispy bhindi bhujia. This recipe is very simple to execute, and the taste is quite delightful.

Although you have probably tried okra dishes prepared the old way, bhindi bhujia will allow you to prepare something new and crunchy. This snack is made using mustard oil, dried red chilies, and light spices, which gives it a wonderful flavor. It does not require many ingredients, and with proper preparation, the okra becomes perfectly crispy. Its taste is especially enhanced if served with hot dal and rice. Therefore, if you want to prepare something light and appetizing for lunch or dinner, be sure to try this simple recipe.

For preparation, you will need: 250 grams of okra (bhindi), 1-2 tablespoons of mustard or refined oil, 2 dried red chilies, a quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder, and salt to taste.

To begin the cooking process, thoroughly wash 250 grams of fresh okra under water, and then dry it completely. It is important to ensure that there is no moisture on the okra.

After that, remove the top and bottom parts of the okra and cut it into rounds or small pieces.

Heat 1-2 tablespoons of mustard or refined oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, add 2 dried red chilies and fry them for a few seconds.

Then add the chopped okra to the pan and mix well. Fry over medium heat for about 5 minutes without covering the pan, as this can make the okra sticky.

After that, reduce the heat and add a quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt to taste. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and continue cooking, stirring the okra occasionally.

When the okra becomes soft enough, increase the heat and fry it for some more time. This will give the okra a light golden and crispy appearance. As soon as the okra becomes crispy, turn off the heat.

Your crispy bhindi bhujia is ready. It can be served with dal and rice, roti, or paratha.
