The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated an internal investigation regarding the conduct and discipline of its team players during their visit to England. This was confirmed by Amir Mir, a consultant to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. He specified that the review is being conducted in accordance with the board's existing rules and procedures.
The PCB has not yet disclosed details about which specific incident or which players are under investigation. However, the board stated that all involved parties will be given a proper opportunity to present their position. Furthermore, the management cautioned against spreading unconfirmed statements and speculation on social media.
During the investigation, reports emerged that a team security officer in London confiscated the mobile phones of two Pakistani players, holding them for several hours. Some unofficial reports suggest that investigators are examining the players' movements in London and their alleged contacts. Nevertheless, the PCB has not confirmed the confiscation of the phones or the analysis of the players' mobile data, so these claims cannot yet be considered official facts.
Should substantial evidence of rule violations by any player be found, there is a possibility of imposing severe fines or restrictions, although the PCB has provided no information regarding potential sanctions.
Pakistan's tour of England was already taking place during a difficult period. Following a crushing defeat in the first Test match at Lord's, the PCB made significant changes to the squad, sending seven players back to Pakistan mid-tour. Additionally, head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were dismissed.
