An important piece of news has emerged for millions of farmers benefiting from the Prime Minister's Farmer Support Program (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana). The central government is considering the possibility of increasing the annual financial support under this scheme. Currently, farmers receive 6000 rupees per year, but there is a suggestion that this amount could be raised to 10000 rupees.
Farmers have long demanded an increase in the PM Kisan program amount. Dr. Krishnavir Chaudhary, a member of the government's procurement committee and national president of the Indian Farmers' Association, has also hinted at a possible increase in the subsidy size. According to Dr. Krishnavir Chaudhary, the central government is studying the proposal to raise the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi funds. He noted that there is a possibility of increasing the annual aid to farmers from 6000 to 10000 rupees. He made this statement during an event held at the Panchayat Nunk building.
Nevertheless, the government has not yet made an official announcement regarding the increase in the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi amount. Therefore, the 10000 rupee figure should be viewed only as a potential change. If the government approves this proposal, farmers will receive 4000 rupees more annually, providing additional financial assistance to cover minor agricultural expenses.
Currently, farmers' attention is also focused on the 24th installment of the PM Kisan program. The previous, 23rd installment, was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 20. During this release, approximately 18,880 crore rupees were transferred to farmers' bank accounts through the DBT system. The 24th installment is now expected. The central government has not yet announced an official release date for the installment. However, according to Deputy Director of Agriculture Nilesh Chorsie, the next installment may arrive in October.
The PM Kisan program was launched in 2019. Under this program, eligible farmers are provided with annual financial assistance of 6000 rupees. This amount is deposited into the farmer's bank account in three equal payments, meaning each installment is 2000 rupees. The government recently decided to continue this program until 2031. To date, 23 installments have been released under the program.
