The Delhi government organized a roundtable meeting on Sunday with leading startup founders, investors, and industry representatives. The event aimed to gather suggestions regarding the implementation of the Startup and Incubation Policy 2026, which is intended to support over 10,000 startups and create more than four hundred thousand jobs.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who participated in the meeting, emphasized that Delhi possesses all the necessary resources to become a major center for innovation and startups, including talented youth, educational institutions, technological capabilities, and a vast consumer market.
The roundtable was conducted by the Department of Education and Technical Education in collaboration with the organization Youth for Governance at The Lalit hotel in New Delhi. Prominent entrepreneurs and investors attended the event, including Sanjeev Bikhandani, founder of Info Edge; Kunal Bal, co-founder of Snapdeal and founder of Titan Capital; Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy; Abhiraj Singh Bhal, co-founder of Urban Company; Vikram Chopra, founder of CARS24; and Swati Bhargava, co-founder of CashKaro.
Representatives from companies and startups such as Innov8, Veeba, InsuranceDekho, Zypp Electric, Statiq, AstroTalk, Newton School of Technology, and Ecosoul also participated in the discussions. The discussions focused on key provisions, the implementation mechanism, and the proposed financial support of over 400 crore rupees under this policy, as well as measures to create a more favorable environment for startups.
Gupta stated that the government's goal is for young people to receive support for their ideas and innovations, enabling startups to create jobs and contribute to economic growth. According to the policy, the government plans to establish incubation centers in colleges and schools of Delhi University.
The Chief Minister noted that the government will collaborate with startup founders, investors, industry representatives, educational institutions, and youth to make the policy implementation more results-oriented and inclusive. She also stressed that the Delhi startup ecosystem must go beyond mere business creation to become a foundation for investment, job generation, economic growth, and innovation.
