Events of the VII Global Canine Forum of the World Customs Organization are taking place in Tashkent, scheduled for September 7 to 9. Representatives from more than fifty countries are participating in this forum.
According to a message from the Customs Committee press service, the forum has started in Tashkent. The event will last for three days. This is reported by Sputnik Uzbekistan correspondent.
More than 150 participants are present at the forum, including the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, Jan Sanders, the Chairman of the Customs Committee Akmalxoja Mavlonov, as well as delegates from more than 50 state customs services and over 15 international organizations.
Over the course of three days, important issues such as staff training, improving the qualifications of dog handlers, methods for detecting synthetic drugs, ensuring veterinary care, and developing canine infrastructure are being discussed.
Experts from the Czech Republic, Germany, and the Netherlands are presenting technologies for detecting scent traces and collecting samples. In turn, specialists from Canada, the USA, and Great Britain are sharing experience in using canine methods to detect new synthetic drugs.
Within the framework of the forum, participants were familiarized with the activities of the National Customs Center of Uzbekistan. This center was established in 1996 and received the status of the World Customs Organization Regional Canine Center in 2008.
Tashkent is hosting this forum for the first time. Previously, the congresses were held in Belgium, Russia, Argentina, the Czech Republic, Australia, and Hong Kong.
Upon completion of the forum, the adoption of the World Customs Organization Compendium on Caninology is planned.
