The Global Knights team won the Phoenix Super League series, securing their first title in the tournament held at the Phoenix Cricket Club venue. The PSL 5 season was characterized by the dominance of experienced batsmen, the emergence of young talents, and the active participation of local fans.
The final proved to be a thrilling spectacle that will be remembered by all present. Global Knights managed to maintain composure until the very last ball to achieve a dramatic victory by four runs over the Alphas team, thus securing the PSL title.
Match Progression
Global Knights won the toss and decided to start with the Alphas team batting. Alphas managed to score a competitive 144 runs in 19.5 overs. This set a target of 145 runs for Global Knights. In the game, Trishane Pillay played a key role for Alphas, scoring 46 runs off 37 balls, including five fours and one six. Dane Madurai added important impetus towards the end, scoring 20 runs off just 11 deliveries before being dismissed.
Global Knights maintained pressure throughout the game, regularly taking wickets and preventing Alphas from forming large partnerships necessary to exceed the total score of 150. The best batsman for Global Knights was Strinivasa Muthiyalu, who showed excellent form by taking 3 wickets for 16 runs in four overs. Rayal Govender also provided valuable support, taking 2 wickets for 25 runs.
Despite Alphas managing to show productive overs, including bursts in the 10th and 14th overs, Global Knights' consistent performance allowed them to stay in control. When needing to chase 145 runs, Global Knights quickly realized that the chase would not be easy. Alphas applied immediate pressure thanks to an impressive performance by Luc Jacobs, who took 3 wickets for 15 runs in four overs. Ashfaq Awan also secured two crucial wickets when Alphas threatened to derail the chase in the early stages.
As wickets fell and the required run rate increased, the final hung in the balance. However, Global Knights found their hero in Ryan Seerpath, who demonstrated a magnificent unbeaten half-century contribution under immense pressure. Revall Govender also provided vital assistance, contributing a decisive 37 runs. The key partnership between Seerpath and Sahil Singh stabilized Global Knights' innings and returned the initiative to them. The decisive moment came in the 17th over, where 17 runs were scored, including two consecutive sixes from Seerpath, which drastically changed the situation. Nevertheless, Alphas refused to give up, extending the contest to the very last second. Ultimately, Global Knights reached 145/6 in 20 overs, concluding a dramatic victory by four runs on the final ball of the match and sparking jubilant celebrations as PSL5 champions.
The President of Phoenix Cricket Club, Bradley Chetty, stated that the tournament once again provided a platform for local cricketers to compete, showcase their talent, and build long-term friendships, uniting players, families, and fans from across the community.
Team Alpha finished as the silver medalist in the Phoenix Super League 2026 season, making the final extremely tense.

Most Catches:
Adesh Bageloo (Global Knights) received the award for wicketkeeping duties, making 12 catches, three stumpings, and three dismissals behind the stumps.
