BRT section opened on Shahrisabz Street in Tashkent with a length of 1.2 km
The first stage of implementing a dedicated bus lane (BRT) on Shahrisabz Street in Tashkent has been completed. This was reported by the Department for Road Traffic Organization (YHTEM).
This initial stage covers a 1.2-kilometer section, extending from the roundabout where Shahrisabz, Mirobod, and Shota Rustaveli streets intersect, to the intersection with Amir Temur shohkўchasi street (near the Museum of Arts).
As part of this BRT infrastructure, six new bus stops were created, and a separate lane for public transport was established. This lane is physically separated from the general traffic flow using curbs. The goal is to ensure stable movement and reduce buses' dependence on traffic jams.
This 1.2-kilometer stretch is considered the first phase of creating BRT infrastructure on Shahrisabz Street. The entire project plans to establish a BRT lane over almost three kilometers of Shahrisabz Street.
Furthermore, it was learned that in March, the city of Tashkent plans to construct BRT lanes for buses on four streets. The initial plan envisages the creation of BRT routes totaling 16.2 kilometers on Shahrisabz, Amir Temur, Mirza Ulugbek, and Yangi Sergeli streets.
