Burning flare in Kashkadarya was part of testing of a new gas well

The first well of the new gas condensate field named 'Patron' has been put into operation in the Mirishkor district of the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan. The initial production volume at this site is estimated to be approximately 500 thousand cubic meters of natural gas daily.

Previously, a video appeared on social networks where the burning flare was mistakenly identified by users as footage of an explosion at a gas facility. However, the Ministry of Energy clarified that this fire is a result of conducting technological tests on the well itself.

Drilling of well No. 1 at this new deposit began after analyzing data obtained from 3D seismic surveys conducted by the Chinese company BGP in 2025. After completing the work and testing the layers at depths from 3296 to 3339 meters, the presence of a commercial inflow of natural gas was confirmed.

Preliminary estimates indicate that the reserves of this relatively small deposit reach approximately 2.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The department specified that during the testing of the new well, gas is intentionally burned through special equipment. This procedure is standard technological practice that allows for determining parameters such as well productivity and pressure, so the flare shown in the recording does not indicate an accident or explosion.

Currently, specialists are conducting gas dynamic and gas condensate research to establish precise production indicators. Well No. 1 of the 'Patron' deposit was connected to the gas pipeline and officially commissioned on September 2nd at 06:00. The work was carried out with the participation of employees of O'zLITIneftgaz and a motorized unit of the oil and gas industry, with all procedures under the control of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and in compliance with established safety standards.

The Ministry of Energy appealed to the public not to spread unconfirmed information, adding that the dissemination of false information entails legal liability according to current legislation. Furthermore, it was mentioned that work had begun at the '25 Years of Independence' gas field in the Baysun district of the Surkhandarya region to eliminate the consequences of an accidental well.
