GIFT Nifty predicts opening decline; Asian markets rise; Brent price approaches $97

According to data for Monday, September 6, 2026, the GIFT Nifty indicator suggested that the Nifty50 index might start trading with negative momentum. This forecast was driven by rising oil prices, which intensified concerns about inflationary expectations amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. Futures for this index were valued at 23,978 points, indicating a drop of 71 points.

Trading was up in the Asia-Pacific markets. These movements correlated with what happened on Wall Street last Friday, as well as with the growth of technology sector stocks. Specifically, the Japanese Nikkei 225 and the South Korean Kospi showed gains of 2.23% and 3.04%, respectively.

Last Friday, the Dow Jones and S&P 500 indices closed down by 0.51% and 0.38%, respectively, while the Nasdaq Composite finished the session down by 0.29%.

Oil prices continued to rise after the US and Iran exchanged strikes on each other's tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. September futures were recorded on the Intercontinental Exchange at $96.73 per barrel, representing an increase of 0.89%. Meanwhile, gold and silver futures traded down by 0.51% and 0.03%, respectively.
