Scandal over advertising in Chennai Metro: Criticism for comparing with investment yield percentage

A dispute has arisen regarding an advertisement placed in the Chennai Metro. This advertisement concerned Fixed Deposits (FDs) and drew a comparison between the interest rate on deposits and the percentage a woman could potentially earn.

The advertisement was displayed inside one of the Chennai Metro carriages and promoted FD plans from the cooperative organization THECOS. The full name of this organization is Tiruvalluvar Transport Corporation Employees Co-operative Credit Society. The announcement claimed that one could earn 0 percent annually from a woman, while the corresponding organization offered an interest rate on FDs. Thus, they attempted to present the deposit interest rate in a more favorable light, which led to the controversy.

Displeasure from DMK Deputy

DMK Deputy Tamizhachi Thangapandian published a photograph of the advertisement on the social network X and raised questions with the Chennai Metro administration. He questioned how such advertising was permitted in public transport.

The deputy stated that the depiction of women in the advertisement was inappropriate and contradicted their dignity. He emphasized that respect for women must be taken into account when placing advertisements in public places. Thangapandian noted that a large number of people travel on the Chennai Metro daily, and advertising visible inside the metro can affect passengers.

The DMK deputy demanded the immediate removal of the advertisement and called on the metro administration to take appropriate measures. He also insisted that such announcements should not be placed in public places in the future. In his opinion, before placing any advertisement in places like the metro, its content must be checked to ensure it does not offend the dignity of any group, especially women.

This incident raised questions about advertising in public spaces. Since people of all ages and social groups travel on the metro, caution is crucial in choosing the language used in advertising.

Following the disagreement from the DMK deputy, the dispute surrounding this advertisement intensified. He demanded its removal and action against those responsible. A response from the metro administration on this matter is currently awaited.

Kangana Ranaut faces contradiction after old post about personal clothing choice goes viral amid debate over Kriti Senan's advertisement.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is in the spotlight due to a statement she made regarding an old advertisement featuring Kriti Senan. Previously, Kangana criticized Kriti's look, which was shown in a bra-like outfit during Rakhi celebrations, questioning why someone would tie a bracelet to their brother while wearing lingerie or a swimsuit.

This remark sparked an active discussion on social media. However, her older post discussing her own fashion choices is now being re-examined.

In the old post, Kangana shared photos where she was dressed in a white lace corset and light high-waisted trousers. These pictures, taken in a sheer, thin-strapped outfit, attracted attention. But her caption drew even more focus.

In this post, Kangana emphasized that she only wanted to highlight that a woman's choice of clothing, or what she forgets to wear, is strictly her personal business. Her message was clear: others should not interfere with women's attire.

In another post, she continued by stating that a woman's appearance is her personal decision, not someone else's. She wrote this in a casual tone, adding a laughing emoji. In yet another post, she shared a photo in the same outfit, writing that she felt she had explained her point and could now go to the office.

The surfacing of this old post led social media users to compare her recent comments about Kriti Senan with her previous statements.

The conflict began over the Rakhi commercial, in which Kriti Senan was presented in a bold outfit while tying a bracelet. Kangana expressed disagreement, questioning why such an outfit needed to be shown in an advertisement for the sister-brother festival.

Following Kangana's comment, public opinion was divided. Some supported her viewpoint, while others brought up her old posts, questioning why she criticized Kriti if she herself had previously stated that women's clothing is a personal decision?

The emergence of Kangana's old post added a new dimension to the debate. On one hand, she has an old statement rejecting the right of others to interfere with women's clothing. On the other hand, she has questions regarding Kriti's advertisement.

Currently, social media is debating whether Kangana's view differs in these two instances, or if she was simply raising the issue in the context of the advertisement. In any case, the dispute, which started with Kriti Senan's advertisement, has now reached Kangana's personal matters, and the social media debates have intensified once again.
