The team that created the web series 'Mirzapur' is successfully demonstrating its power at the box office after dominating streaming platforms. The film 'Mirzapur' has gained popularity across the country, with most theater showings being full, as confirmed by data on ticket sales websites and impressive box office reports.
The film 'Mirzapur' started with a strong opening at the box office thanks to the participation of actors Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Ravi Kishna, Jitendra Kumar, and Abhishek Banerjee. On the first day, the film earned 25.75 crore, ensuring a successful transition from the OTT format to the big screen. Positive audience reviews contributed to increased interest on the second day of screening.
On Saturday, the film achieved a significant increase, collecting a net income of 32 crore rupees. This trend continued into Sunday, when 'Mirzapur' increased its collection by 12.5%, reaching a net income of 36 crore rupees. The film's total net income reached 93.75 crore rupees, and global gross collections amounted to 132.35 crore rupees. It is expected that the film will easily enter the club of films with box office collections exceeding 100 crore on Monday, as the current momentum allows for predictions of high earnings even on a weekday.
The success of 'Mirzapur' is seen as a new impetus for the OTT industry. This experiment, which transformed a popular web series into a feature film, proved highly successful because audiences really liked the new world of 'Mirzapur'. The film includes all the elements necessary for a commercial masala genre film. In the future, a similar approach may be applied to other popular shows, although this remains to be seen.
The film 'Mirzapur' was directed by Gurumit Singh, and produced by Farhan Akhtar.
