Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent a letter to the state's residents, outlining his views on education and literacy. He noted that teachers play a critically important role in building society and the nation. According to CM Yogi, educators do not just teach children but also guide them toward the right life path.
In the letter, he also mentioned Teacher's Day, noting that this occasion provided him with the opportunity to honor 81 teachers who have made significant contributions to the country's development.
CM Yogi stated that teachers are like a beacon spreading the light of knowledge, paving the way for future generations. Children come to school not only to learn reading and writing; it is crucial to instill in them not only knowledge but also moral principles, discipline, and self-confidence. Furthermore, they must be taught to distinguish between good and evil, which helps them move forward in life.
He also referenced the tradition of Indian Gurukuls, emphasizing that in ancient times, Gurukuls served not only as centers of learning but also as places where children were taught life values and responsibility.
Given the rapid pace of technological change, CM Yogi stressed the necessity of digital literacy, as well as knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He noted that AI, deep technologies, and new developments open up numerous new opportunities, influencing the fields of education, healthcare, agriculture, industry, and employment.
The government is working to integrate traditional knowledge with modern sciences and technologies. Steps in this direction include the creation of an AI City in Lucknow and the development of drone and UAV technologies in Kanpur. CM Yogi reported that the government is focused on improving the quality of education by increasing opportunities in schools. Special attention is given to programs such as Operation Kayakalp and Mission Prana, as well as developing skill development and youth initiatives through the Abhay scheme.
He also mentioned that the dropout rate in the state's schools has been reduced, and more children are engaging in the mainstream education system.
Emphasizing that teachers are the most vital link in the education system, CM Yogi stated that they shape curiosity, discipline, and self-esteem in children. He also mentioned International Literacy Day, celebrated on September 8th. The Minister stressed that achieving literacy goals is impossible without the support of the entire society.
In conclusion, he expressed determination to ensure school attendance for every child, quality education for every student, the development of skills and new ideas in every youth, and that every citizen possesses not only knowledge but also awareness of digital technologies and AI.
