The renowned pianist Lang Lang gave his first concert in Registan Square in Samarkand on September 6. He performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, conducted by Alibek Kabdurakhmanov. The event was organized by the Fund for the Development of Art and Culture of Uzbekistan.
This performance was part of the fund's international cultural initiatives aimed at strengthening human ties and promoting cultural exchange through art. After the concert, musicians presented a new program in Registan Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the main symbols of Uzbekistan's historical and cultural heritage, near the Great Wall of China in Beijing.
Lang Lang is recognized as one of the most influential musicians of the 21st century, whose career spans leading concert venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and Musikverein in Vienna. He participated in the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the opening ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Furthermore, he has repeatedly presented classical music at major international cultural and state events.
Through his performances and educational projects, Lang Lang has become one of the leading global ambassadors of classical music. In Samarkand, Lang Lang and the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, under the direction of Alibek Kabdurakhmanov, presented a program featuring masterpieces of classical music.
