The police of the Bidhaunaur district conducted a large-scale action to control noise pollution, following directives from the Supreme Court, High Court, and the government. As part of this initiative, sound amplifiers and loudspeakers installed at various religious sites across different police jurisdictions in the district were dismantled.
According to police data, a total of 2509 loudspeakers were removed throughout the district by September 6, 2026. Among the devices dismantled at religious locations were 1323 in mosques, 1116 in temples, and 70 in gurdwaras.
The Bidhaunaur police emphasized that the goal of this operation is not to target any specific religion, but to ensure compliance with established regulations regarding noise pollution, as well as directives from the courts and the government.
In addition to religious sites, special attention is being paid to adhering to set noise limits during public events and in other areas. The police also remind people of the necessity to observe norms in residential areas, where the daytime noise limit is 55 decibels and the nighttime limit is 45 decibels. In commercial zones, the daytime level is permitted up to 65 decibels and the nighttime level up to 55 decibels.
According to official reports, the largest number of loudspeakers (1323 units) was removed from mosques. This is followed by temples, from which 1116 loudspeakers were removed, as well as 70 sound amplifiers from gurdwaras. Thus, the total number of dismantled devices at the three types of religious sites reached 2509.
The Bidhaunaur police urged citizens to adhere to established rules when using sound equipment in any venue to avoid disturbing others. Event organizers are also asked to control the volume so that the sound remains within the event's premises.
For citizens experiencing discomfort from loud sounds emanating from loudspeakers at religious or other sites, options for filing a complaint are available. Complaints can be sent to the nearest police station, by calling UP-112, or by contacting the Commissioner of Police of Bidhaunaur at 9454400254.
This activity is viewed as an important step towards controlling noise pollution in the district. Under the leadership of SP KK Bishnoi, the police appealed to the public for cooperation, stressing that obeying the law and established noise standards is just as important as respecting religious beliefs and conducting events.
The Bidhaunaur police strongly recommends that citizens follow the rules for combating noise pollution and inform law enforcement agencies about cases of excessive noise.
