According to sources from the Civil Guard confirmed to Europa Press, the incidents occurred during the early morning hours in one of the most affected areas following the massive influx of migrants, specifically in El Trampolín and Benítez, adjacent zones.
The migrants used an elevated position to throw stones at the army, although no personal or material damage was recorded.
The 21 migrants were offered the option of voluntarily returning to Morocco or appearing before the competent court. As they had no criminal record, all decided to return to their country, according to police sources.
The Association of Spanish Troops and Navy (ATME) expressed its dissatisfaction with the episode on its social media, regretting that this is the third incident in ten days.
The association's sources clarified to Europa Press that none of the military personnel suffered serious injuries.
More than 70,000 individuals illegally entered Ceuta between July 30 and 31. The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, classified this situation as a 'violation of Spain's territorial integrity,' holding human trafficking mafias responsible for distorting a recent decision regarding the return of migrants arriving in Spain by sea.
Although more than 90% of the people who illegally entered the Spanish enclave in North Africa, which borders Morocco, left Ceuta in the following days, it is estimated that at least 5,000 remain in the city, including many on the streets.
Sánchez considered that Spain and Europe were victims of an attack in Ceuta that utilized immigration, also mentioning the involvement of Israel and Russia, in addition to the amplification of disinformation about the event on social networks.
