The State Labor Inspectorate of Uzbekistan issued a warning against compelling employees to perform various tasks outside of working hours and on weekends.
This caution was made following the appearance of reports on social media regarding such cases recorded in several regions of the country. The agency emphasized that forced labor is strictly prohibited by law.
Employees cannot be coerced into fulfilling duties without their consent, whether under threat of punishment or due to pressure. The Inspectorate also drew attention to reports concerning citizens included in the Social Security Register.
Social Register
According to the agency's data, there have been instances of unjustified or violent exclusion of citizens from this register. The State Labor Inspectorate noted that such actions can restrict citizens' access to social support and assistance provided by the state.
The agency strongly stated that the performance of any tasks cannot serve as grounds for restricting workers' labor rights or citizens' right to social protection. All appeals received by the inspectorate will be thoroughly investigated. If the information contained in these appeals is confirmed, the responsible officials will face measures stipulated by law.
