The film 'Mirzapur: The Movie' has demonstrated significant box office success, collecting over 50 million rupees in just two days, with global earnings approaching 100 million rupees, generating considerable audience interest.
However, amidst this success, the film found itself at the center of controversy due to the use of the song 'Shurvir' in the final part. This song, which was popular in Instagram trends for some time, added vibrancy to the scene, but the filmmakers faced criticism.
Rapper Balam, who performed the song, expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that the creators of 'Mirzapur' used his composition without obtaining proper permission. He stated that this constitutes an insult to Rajasthan.
Through an Instagram video, Rapper Balam communicated his disappointment, noting that he never expected to make such posts. He questioned why he had to react to the use of his song in the film 'Mirzapur' if the film's team had not requested permission from him before using the composition. The song was dedicated to Maharana Pratap Singh, and Balam is outraged that it is being used to portray the villain in a positive light.
He added that if the 'Mirzapur' team had shown interest in his music and contacted him, he could have provided them with ten more songs. However, using the material without his consent, in his opinion, is a violation of rights. Balam expressed deep regret, believing it humiliates Rajasthan and Maharana Pratap, and he refuses to accept it, reminding people of the sacrifices and struggles Maharana Pratap made for the country.
Many internet users supported Rapper Balam's stance, expressing their disapproval of the film's creators. Some believe Balam should sue the creators of 'Mirzapur' for copyright infringement, and he would receive public support. It remains unclear whether the song 'Shurvir' will be removed from 'Mirzapur: The Movie' or if the creators will find an alternative solution.
It should be noted that the film was directed by Gurmit Singh, who created the 'Mirzapur' series, and the producers are Farhan Akhtar and Amazon MGM Studios.
